Traveling by rental car or private driver is straightforward, to Petra, Aqaba, Dead Sea, and Amman, or any destination only a short drive away

* Aqaba:  1 hour  Driving from Rum Village, has Red Sea beaches, diving, hotels, and an airport.
* Petra:  2 hours from  Rum Village , is one of the world’s seven wonders.
* Amman: 4 hours from visitor center, is Jordan’s capital with cultural sites and airports.
On the way to Amman, you can stop at Karak Castle, one of Jordan’s great Crusader fortresses.
* Dead Sea:  5 hours Away, Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth with resorts and beaches.
On the way, you can stop at Dana Reserve viewpoint, Wadi Mujib viewpoint, and Dead Sea viewpoints.

Leaving Wadi Rum by Bus or Taxi

Buss Transport
Regular buses run to Aqaba, Petra, and Amman. They’re affordable and convenient, especially for solo or budget travelers. Book ahead during peak seasons.

Taxi from Wadi Rum
Private taxis offer faster, direct trips to Aqaba, Petra, Amman, or the Dead Sea. Prices vary, so confirm in advance. Since no taxis wait in Rum parking , ask your camp to arrange one.

Transportation from Wadi Rum to Aqaba

Local Bus (Rum Bus): Leaves Rum village around 6:30 AM (except Fridays). Mostly for locals, so check with your host for availability. Fare: 5–7 JOD.

Petra Bus: Departs around 9:00 AM, drops you at the highway to connect with buses to Aqaba. Fare: 4–5 JOD. Connections may take extra time.

Jett Bus – Daily Service from Rum visitor center  to Aqaba
The bus departs daily from the Visitor Center at 9:00 AM and takes about 1 hour to reach Aqaba. Tickets cost 15 JD per person. Advance booking is recommended, especially during peak season (March–May and September–November), and can be done easily online. You can conveniently book your ticket online here: Book Jett Bus.

Taxi from Wadi Rum to Aqaba


A taxi is the fastest and most comfortable way to reach Aqaba (1 hour), with direct drop-off at your accommodation.

Typical fares: City Center: 25–30 JD ,South Beach: 35–40 JD, Wadi Araba Border: 35–40 JD, King Hussein Airport: 40–50 JD

Note: No taxis are based in Rum village, so arrange in advance through your host or pre-book from Aqaba.

Transportation from Wadi Rum to Petra

Bus from Rum Village to Petra

Petra Bus (Local): Departs daily from Rum Village at 9:00 AM, taking about 2–2.5 hours to reach Petra Bus Station. Tickets cost 10–12 JD per person. Can be arranged through your host.

Jett Bus: Daily from Rum Visitor Center at 9:00 AM, also 2–2.5 hours to Petra. Ticket: 18 JD. Advance online booking is recommended, especially during peak season (March–May & September–November) You can secure your ticket online

Taxi: The fastest and most comfortable option (1.5 hours), with the option to stop at the Petra viewpoint. Fare: 40–45 JD. Must be arranged at least a day in advance through your host

Transportation from Wadi Rum to Dead Sea

Dead Sea – Day Trip from Rum Desert

The Dead Sea, about 5 hours from Rum Village, is the lowest point on Earth at 430.5 meters below sea level. The area has resorts and beaches for a relaxing visit. There is no direct bus from Rum Village; travel is possible via Amman, or by private taxi or rental car, costing around 120–130 JD. Along the way, you can stop at scenic viewpoints such as Dana Reserve, Wadi Mujib, and other Dead Sea lookouts, making the journey even more memorable.

Traveling from Rum visitor center to Amman

By Bus:
No local bus runs directly from visitor Center to Amman. The Jett Bus departs from the Visitor Center at 5:00 PM, taking 4–5 hours. Ticket: 25 JD per person. By Taxi:
The fastest and most comfortable option (≈4 hours), with direct drop-off at your accommodation.

Typical fares: City Centre: 110–120 JD

Queen Alia Airport: 100–110 JD

Note: No taxis are based in Rum Village, so arrange in advance through your host in Camp
