Arriving to wadi rum by car
Traveling to Wadi Rum by rental car or private driver is straightforward, whether you’re coming from Petra, Aqaba, the Dead Sea, Amman, or nearby destinations.
- From Aqaba: About 1 hour
- From Petra: About 2 hours
- From Amman: About 4 hours (optional stop at Karak Castle)
- From the Dead Sea: About 5 hours (possible stops at Dana Reserve, Wadi Mujib, and viewpoints)



Arriving to Wadi Rum by Bus or Taxi
Bus Transport
Regular buses connect Wadi Rum with Aqaba, Petra, and Amman. They’re affordable and convenient, especially for solo or budget travelers. Booking ahead is recommended during peak seasons.
Taxi to Wadi Rum
Private taxis provide a faster, direct way to reach Wadi Rum from Aqaba, Petra, Amman, or the Dead Sea. Prices vary, so confirm beforehand. Since no taxis wait in Rum Village, it’s best to arrange one in advance or ask your driver to bring you directly.
Transportation from Aqaba to Wadi Rum
Local Bus (Rum Bus): Leaves Aqaba around 1 PM (except Fridays). Mostly for locals, so check for availability. Fare: 5–7 JOD.
Jett Bus – Daily Service from Aqaba to Rum visitor center
The bus departs daily from Aqaba at 8:00 AM and takes about 1 hour to reach Rum Visitor center. Tickets cost 15 JD per person. Taxi from Aqaba to Wadi Rum
A taxi is the fastest and most comfortable way to reach Wadi Rum (1 hour), with direct drop-off at your accommodation.
Typical fares: City Center: 25–30 JD ,South Beach: 35–40 JD, Wadi Araba Border: 35–40 JD, King Hussein Airport: 40–50 JD
Transportation from Petra to rum visitor center
Bus from Petra to Rum Village
Petra Bus (Local): Departs daily from Petra at 6:00 – 6.30 AM, taking about 2–2.5 hours to reach Wadi Rum village . Tickets cost 10–12 JD per person. Can be arranged through your host.
Jett Bus: Daily from Petra Visitor Center at 5:00 PM, also 2–2.5 hours to Rum visitor center . Ticket: 15 JD. Advance online booking is recommended, especially during peak season (March–May & September–November) You can secure your ticket online here: Book Jett Bus.
Taxi: The fastest and most comfortable option (1.5 hours), with the option to stop at the Petra viewpoint. Fare: 40–45 JD. better be arranged at least a day in advance through your host
Transportation from Dead Sea to Wadi Rum
Dead Sea Trip to Rum Desert
Wadi Rum desert, about 5 hours from Dead sea the lowest point on Earth at 430.5 meters below sea level. There is no direct bus from Dead Sea to Rum Village; travel is possible via Amman, or by private taxi or rental car, costing around 120–130 JD. Along the way, you can stop at scenic viewpoints such as Dana Reserve, Wadi Mujib, and other Dead Sea lookouts, making the journey even more memorable.

Traveling from to Amman to Rum visitor center
By Bus:
No local bus runs directly from Ammanto wadi Rum. Only Jett Bus The Jett Bus departs from Ammanr at 7:00 – 7.30 AM, taking 4–5 hours. Ticket: 25 JD per person. By Taxi:
The fastest and most comfortable option (4 hours), with direct drop-off at your accommodation.
Typical fares: City Centre: 110–120 JD
Queen Alia Airport: 100–110 JD
