Wadi Rum Protected Area

was officially established in 1998 and is recognized as one of Jordan’s most significant natural reserves. Spanning dramatic desert landscapes of sandstone mountains, vast valleys, and red sand dunes, it was created to safeguard both the unique environment and the cultural heritage of the Bedouin communities who have lived there for centuries. The goals of the reserve include preserving rare wildlife, protecting archaeological sites, and maintaining the delicate desert ecosystem.
